Everything the vault actually records about how the Seldon merch got made, plus a costed, vendor-by-vendor bill of materials for the $5K Juniper package (P06, due 2026-09-30). Built to be executed, not admired: pick the row, click the link, place the order.
Full-vault grep across merch, swag, sticker, hoodie, mug, tee, cap, embroider, print, vendor, Printful, Sticker Mule, 4imprint. Seven notes carry signal; only one carries a vendor.
| Vault note | Date | What it gives us | Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| All/Today.md — daily todo, repeated 15/17/19 Jan | 2026-01 | “Lav lidt merch stickers til Seldon med StickerApp (tager 2–4 dage med accelerated)” — carried three days running, never ticked off. | The only hard vendor fact in the vault. StickerApp + accelerated lead time. |
| All/Today.md — Aug-14 Q4 block | 2026-08-14 | “Kickstart swag-pakken ($5K)” as an open action alongside the GoDaddy / juniperventures.xyz items. | Confirms scope + owner. |
| All/Meetings/Ethan + Grigory meetings.md | Demo-Day prep | “Order additional merch for Demo Day (current order may not arrive on time)” · “Merch order timing is concerning” · transcript: “we do need probably a bit more merch, because I don't think the merch we ordered will arrive on time. Which is pretty irritating.” | The single most transferable lesson: lead time is the failure mode, not price. |
| All/Concepts & Ideas/Make merch for god's sake… | 2024-06-29 | “the main problem is that we're in so many different countries that it's a bit hard to do it consistently… restart stickers for the hackathons, those are freaking awesome. Same with certificates. Having some sort of artefact from each hackathon seems pretty badass and I can make them within minutes.” | Distribution geography is the constraint; stickers are the highest joy-per-dollar item. |
| All/Personal/Logs/Preparation for Damnation #22.md | — | “Create and order merch to LISA” — unticked. | Pattern: merch tasks drift. |
| All/Personal/Logs/Hack time in Vietnam #12.md | — | “Have fun with merch — Merch ideas” (Notion, ticked). | An external Notion doc may hold the Apart-era item list. [inference] |
| All/Personal/Logs/UtiliBEATS.md | — | “We have a surplus of T-shirts in merch — if you buy one for $30 (or more)…” | Only price point in the vault: tees moved at $30 retail, and were over-ordered. |
| All/Books/Zero to One.md | — | “Using branded clothing, merch, stickers… help show others in your company that you belong in the same tribe and shows commitment.” | The why. Swag is tribe-marking, so it must be worn, not stored. |
Not found anywhere in the vault: Printful · Printify · Sticker Mule · Custom Ink · 4imprint · MOO · SwagUp · Fellow · any invoice, quantity, garment SKU or print-method note for Seldon.
Sized for roughly 24 “full-kit” recipients (portfolio founders, key LPs, Nick/David/Griff) plus a wider tail of tees, hats and stickers for events. Prices are live vendor list prices as of 2026-08-14; setup/digitizing charges shown separately because they are one-time and don't recur on the re-order.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fellow mug | 4imprint | 12 | Recommended. Published price breaks (12/$53.95 · 24/$43.75 · 48/$41.50 · 144/$37.50 · 576/$29.95), $60 setup per colour, ships in 2 business days, free samples, 360° guarantee. No quote round-trip. | 4imprint 168074-12 |
| MOO | 24 | Only route to one-sided laser engraving and 360° wrap print — engraving looks far more “fund” than an ink wrap. Business Services desk: inquiries@moo.com / +1 401-484-0988. | MOO Carter Move | |
| Fellow direct / Clove & Twine / Anthem | quote | Fellow runs its own corporate programme (~7 business days for personalised mugs). Clove & Twine and Anthem are curated-gifting shops — nicer packaging, slower, quote-based. | fellowproducts.com · Clove & Twine · Anthem | |
| Hoodie + tee | A local Bay-Area screen/embroidery shop | 12–24 | Recommended. You can go touch the blank and see a press proof before the run — which is exactly what made Seldon look good. Buy blanks yourself from S&S Activewear or Blankstyle and pay the shop for decoration only. | S&S SS4500 · S&S 1717 |
| Printful / rushIMPRINT / Merchloop | 0–24 | Printful = safe all-rounder (DTG/DTF/AOP/embroidery, predictable fulfilment) but per-unit is the highest and you never see a proof. rushIMPRINT is cheapest for 50–500 embroidered. Merchloop is zero-MOQ on-demand if you'd rather never hold stock. | Printful · Merchloop | |
| Hats | Monterey Company · Cap Wholesalers · any local embroiderer | 12–24 | Richardson 112 blank runs $5–8.35 wholesale; decorated lands $16–25 in bulk. A woven or leather patch reads more premium than direct stitch on the foam front panel. | Monterey · Blank 112 @ $8.35 |
| Stickers | StickerApp (the Seldon printer) | $26 min | Recommended — this is the proven one. Die-cut, glossy-coated white vinyl, 2–4 days on accelerated. Sticker Mule is the alternative (aggressive first-order deals; list ~$72/50). | StickerApp die-cut · Sticker Mule |
| MagSafe battery | Anker Corporate (unbranded) · 4imprint / Promo Direct / iPromo / Crestline (branded) | 10–25 | See §5 — this is the one item where you must choose between good and branded. | Anker corporate · 4imprint power banks · iPromo MagSafe |
| Gin | Local SF distillery + label printer · 58 and CO (UK) · Timber Creek (US) | 60–80 bottles for true white-label | See §6 — at 12 bottles you are re-labelling, not white-labelling. | 58 and CO · Timber Creek · Blue Label (no label MOQ) |
| Method | Best for | Durability | Cost add | Practical MOQ |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Embroidery | Hoodies, hats, anything you want to read as premium | Life of the garment — poly thread doesn't fade or crack | $4–8/unit chest hit + $25–75 one-time digitizing | 12 |
| Screen print | Tees at volume, 1–4 flat colours | 40–60 washes typical; 100+ if properly cured | $3–5/unit at 100+, plus per-screen setup | 24 (economics kick in at 50+) |
| DTF (direct-to-film transfer) | Small runs, full colour, any fabric — no pre-treatment | 50–80 washes | $4–8/unit | none |
| DTG | Complex full-colour art on 100% cotton | 40–80 washes | $12–18/unit | none |
| Laser engrave | Stainless drinkware, aluminium battery shells | Permanent | varies; often same as print | 24 |
| Die-cut vinyl + laminate | Stickers | Outdoor-rated years | ~$0.55/ea @ 250, ~$0.35 @ 1,000 | ~$26 order min |
“Juniper Ventures” gifting gin is the best idea on the Aug-14 list and the one with the most operational friction. Three routes, in order of how much you'd enjoy them:
Buy 12 bottles of a genuinely good SF/Bay craft gin, print a custom pressure-sensitive label and apply it yourself. Label printers have effectively no minimum — Blue Label Packaging will run 250 labels for a one-off; StickerApp will do far fewer. Cost lands ~$35/bottle + ~$60 labels. Turnaround on labels is 10–15 business days after artwork approval, 5–7 on rush.
Caveat: re-labelling commercial spirits and then shipping them is legally murky. Hand-deliver at Tehama; do not mail. See the compliance note below.
58 and CO: minimum 80 × 70cl, ~6 weeks. Timber Creek (US): minimum 10 cases / 60 bottles per product. Both blow the $5K budget on their own but are the right answer if the gin ever becomes the fund's signature gift at $15–20K/yr.
~200 bottles minimum and 12 weeks (Entre Nous / 58 and CO tier 2). Not now. Park it for a Fund II close party.
| By | Action | Why this date |
|---|---|---|
| Aug 22 | Lock the mark: wordmark + juniper-sprig icon, delivered as vector (AI/EPS/SVG), 1-colour and tonal variants, plus a DST embroidery file after digitizing. | Every downstream vendor blocks on artwork. Digitizing takes a day and is a one-time $25–75. |
| Aug 29 | Order stickers from StickerApp (accelerated) and request free samples from 4imprint + blanks from S&S. | Matches the P06 task date. Stickers land in a week and de-risk everything else; samples let you touch the garment before committing. |
| Sep 5 | Physical proof review: hold the blank hoodie, the blank tee, the 112, the mug. Reject anything that feels cheap. Then place the mug order (2-day ship) and the apparel decoration order. | This is the step that produced “the Seldon merch looked great.” A specialist you can proof beats a platform you can't. |
| Sep 12 | Design assets signed off (per P06). Order MagSafe packs + source the gin bottles locally. | Anker bulk ships fast; gin labels need 10–15 business days. |
| Sep 19 | All decoration orders confirmed in production with written ship dates. | The Demo-Day lesson. A verbal “should be fine” is how the last order missed. |
| Sep 30 | Goods received at Tehama; kit assembly; photograph the kit for the progress tracker artefact. | P06 milestone: “$5K spent on Juniper-branded swag, and happy with it.” |
